A translation with an introduction and notes by Martin Levey and Marvin Petruck of the "Kitab fi usul hisab al-hind" by the Persian astronomer and mathematician Kushyar Ibn Labban. This treatise is here described as the oldest surviving mathematical text in Arabic using Hindu numerals. Kushyar was writing in the late tenth and early eleventh centuries. Dust jacket present.
