The binding is very lightly rubbed & bumped with the head of the spine slightly frayed. The cloth is a bit darkened. 29 & [1] leaf plus colophon. Illustrated with a facsimile of Lincoln's letter mounted on the rear blank preceding the colophon. The facsimile is detached, leaving glue stains on the rear blank on which it was originally mounted. The top page corners are lightly bumped. Good.

Limited edition of 750 copies printed on handmade paper at the Printing House of William Edwin Rudge, Mt. Vernon, New York in March, 1928.

This is the letter that Lincoln wrote to Joseph Hooker in January 1863 on appointing him to the command of the Army of the Potomac. William E. Barton was a Lincoln biographer. There is a foreword by William A. Carr.
