The emancipation document freeing a "Negro Girl named Laura Young" from her status as a slave to Eliza Barrett binds Barrett and her nephew Philip O. Turpin, obligating them to pay the sum of "five hundred" dollars should the county need to support the girl. The document is twice endorsed in ink on the verso by Richard P.
